Blue eyes

Write Tribe

I am taking part in The Write Tribe Festival of Words 1st - 7th September 2013.

Day 3 - Blue Eyes
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next day had begun with the normal routines but as the evening was coming by, Violet was getting anxious about the party. Her mother had mentioned that she will be meeting one of her friend's nephews. Violet wasn't too sure about the introduction at a party and worried even more about the consequences of her mother's friendship.

Violet took all the trouble she could to look good but made sure it was not overdone. She was still elated at the indigo dress her mother had bought her. She wore a beautiful necklace and earring set in silver set with moonstone. The stone reflected the colour of her dress and made her look even more beautiful.

At the party, she was the most gorgeous of the single girls and everyone admired her beauty in awe. Her mother proudly introduced her to all her friends. She maintained a smile hoping her apprehension was not seen in her face.

It was much later in the party, Violet saw a tall and handsome gentleman enter the house. She saw her mother speak to him and point in her direction. "Oh! I was just forgetting about why I was here !" thought the girl. He walked towards her and their eyes met.

Eyes have an uncanny way of holding people's attention. His was even more so! He had blue eyes! She straightened herself without breaking eye-contact as he reached closer.

The blue-eyed handsome gentleman had offered his hand and courteously asked, "Violet, would you like a dance with me?"

With butterflies in her stomach, she managed to just nod and offered her hand back. The dance was delightful and the conversation even better. By the end of the song, she was blushing and smiling. All her previous apprehension had disappeared.

However, it was time for her to leave. The blue-eyed gentleman had asked her on a lunch date. And she again managed to nod a yes. They exchanged their phone numbers and decided the place and time.

On the way back, she was just glad that it was dark and her mother was too tired to notice her. More so because, she was smiling and blushing thinking about the blue eyes!

To be continued in Violet's first date with the handsome blue eyes.
