An Indigo Dress

Write Tribe

I am taking part in The Write Tribe Festival of Words 1st - 7th September 2013.

Day 2 - Indigo Dress

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Violet and her mother enjoyed their once in two months shopping sprees. They never shared a mother-daughter relation when it came to these sprees. Often, they would just roam the shops and hardly buy anything but enjoy each other's company and just have fun. They became the best friends who teased about the tastes of one another and gossiped about everyone else

Today was no different. The two were at their favourite pastime together. However, her mother had an aim which she didn't reveal. She had decided to get Violet a dress to meet a suitable groom.

"Violet, let us look at dresses today. You haven't bought one for very long." said her mother after their first snack between the spree.

"Oh yes mother, that would be nice."

An hour later and a few shops down, they still hadn't found anything interesting. Violet was almost giving up, "Mother, I don't think I am going to like any dress today."

Her mother refused to stop. "Come on, let us look at this shop!" at then entrance of an expensive boutique.

Violet hesitated as something had already caught her eye in the shop window but she knew it would be expensive. Her mother had noticed that Violet couldn't keep her eyes away from the indigo dress.  While Violet was in the dressing room trying out another dress, her mother bought the dress in her size and sneaked it.

The indigo dress was a halter neck shaped till the waist and flowing from there. Her mother surprised her when they returned in the evening, "Violet, I want you to try this dress that I bought for you and want you to wear it tomorrow to the party."

Violet's eyes were wet with happiness and she looked beautiful as expected.

More tomorrow at the party...
