Soliloquy or Madness?

Hi ...a thought that was fleeting by but a great topic to blog...

Consider how hypocritical we human beings are..

 Soliloquy - a famous method used in plays / dramas...these are accepted and enacted with such grandeur and accepted without any problem...Yet when it comes to real life the same method of talking to oneself is immediately labelled as a sign of insanity!!

I guess the answer would be that the character talking to oneself in a play is acceptable as method of communication to the audience of how they feel...but in real life you do not have an audience to convey your thoughts and therefore is it unacceptable!

But...I admit from my heart that I do a lot of talking to myself...it helps me organise my thoughts and calms me on stressful days...does that make me insane? Well I  know if I didn't I do that, then I would surely become insane...

:)

Anyone with any thoughts...

I end with the famous soliloquy by Juliet from Romeo and Juliet:

O Romeo, Romeo! wherefore art thou Romeo?
Deny thy father and refuse thy name;
Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love,
And I'll no longer be a Capulet.

  1. Soliloquy? Never heard of this word until you mentioned it here. Did you think I was educated in Harvard or Cambridge? I am at awe that you are able to use these bombastic words. Now I know the meaning from reading your post.

    Talking to yourself has cognitive benefits. Here is a quote:

    “One advantage of talking to yourself is that you know at least somebody's listening.” - Franklin P. Jones”
