My sins against gender stereotypes

If you are a woman,
Have you ever wanted something that is considered ‘manly’ ? Like a basketball, a cell phone, a dog, a camera or a new laptop? A new car or motor bike? Ever wanted to be a pilot? A doctor or not a nurse? And the manliest want of them all – The remote! ;)
As a kid did you enjoy playing with a bat and a ball?
There was a time when books were considered ‘manly’, women authors had to pretend to be men – would you say books are still rather manly – women should want to embroider and crochet?
If you are a man,
Have you ever wanted something that only women are supposed to want – like bags, shoes, clothes, creams, perfumes, babies, flowers? A peaceful home and a happy family? Have you ever been afraid of the dark or of insects?
As a kid did you ever want to play ‘teacher-teacher’, cooking or did you like playing with a doll? Have you ever enjoyed cooking? Bought something in pink? Loved chocolates?

So here’s the tag – Please list at least ten things you have ever wanted or done which your gender is not supposed to.
The tag is called ‘My Sins against Gender-Stereotypes’. And you must tag twelve blogging friends  or else you will be cursed to wear blue clothes pants if you are a woman and pink shirts if you are a man – for next twelve years

I am not sure I can do ten ...but I am going to give it a try...

1) I am a gadget freak...I love gadgets...and y is that limited to men ...I do not know!

2) I love Pens...expensive pens that I can show off!

3) I love computer and computer games....I am not sure if I am the only one who has this problem...but everytime I enter a computer shop or computer accsessories shop...I am totally ignored...while on the other hand if a guy enters...the shopkeepers are all over him...ok I don't want them all over me...but what the hell...am I not as capable of buying things from you???

4) I like tools...I mean hardware tools...like hammers & screwdrivers...

5) I can see the guys thinking to the last one..what is the point of liking tools if you don't use them...well...I like using them too! Oh by the way I have had the same experience that I have had in computer shops in hardware stores...

6) You know this tag's curse is kind of wierd...becoz blue is too wide a range...considering that most girls wear jeans nowadays....is that not blue pants...if that's blue...i don't mind getting cursed...and...why in the world did the world classify blue to men and pink to women...????

7) I am not much of a night person...but I would love to have the chance to walk alone without fear in the night... ...the worst part is the fear is not within me...but induced by everyone around me..."remember you are a girl"...you know that actually reminds me of the station master in Jab We Met... "Zindagi , rail ki patri hain......." (Life is like a railway track...) LOL!!
1:34secs past in the video below...it has english subtitles. {sorry couldn't embed the same}

8) I am not very sporty...but I also find that guys have sports in them naturally...I have seen loads of my guy friends saying that they are playing a sport for the first time...but they play it like a pro...I wish I had that in me..

9) As a kid I had imagined being the bread-earner of the house...and having a house husband...but now it is unthinkable... But I still want to be earning and giving my share ...

10) I envy guys who get king-size treatment from the in-laws...which for some reason we girls (Indian at least) never seem to get from ours...

Now for the tagging ...I tag ...

  2. I would love to have the chance to walk alone without fear in the night and I agree that the fear is induced by everyone around us.

P.S. A teacher is definitely a leader! Never underestimate the difference that you can make in the lives of others!
