However lost, depressed and out of mood you are...life moves on...so does time. It is true that you wouldn't be in a great mood and do not feel like smiling at everyone but ....
I have been caught up in presentations and teleconference since last week. My PhD is part of a collaborative project and is sometimes very hard to cope with. So what have i done the past week...well, I had to give an update on my work to my fellow PhD students, post-docs and faculty on Friday and then again on Monday (different places)...why twice...well that's what happens if you are doing a collaborative interdisciplinary PhD (see below) ....which reminds me of a comic strip that came on phdcomics.com ...that website is quite an entertainment on PhD lives...All copyrights go to the creators...
Then I had a teleconference on my present project on Monday afternoon...the result the rest of the week trying to complete tasks that came up during the call... Further...on the coming Monday I have a journal club to present to...what is journal club ...well it is a place where the latest "interesting" scientific papers are selected and reviewed with other scientists...in my case with other PhD students and a few faculty members......so now I have to be reading and dissecting the paper ...well enough to be confident about talking on it to a group of 20+ people....
That much for work...However, this weekend one of my family friends from M'sia are in UK and are coming to visit me on Sunday...Can you sense my excitement?? ...I will be meeting them after 4 long years!....
